IMPORTANT: READ BEFORE PROCEEDING!
Read and follow the below.
Save all packing materials. The Cliffwood should only be moved or shipped in its original packaging
to reduce the risk of damage in transit.
The Cliffwood must be placed on a flat, level surface. This will make setup easy, provide better sound
quality, and put less strain on the main bearing.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:

1. To avoid electrical shock, do not open the motor cover.
2. If the power cord provided with the Cliffwood (110V countries only) does not reach an outlet, use a
heavy-duty, grounded extension cord.
3. To avoid electrical shock, always plug the Cliffwood into a grounded outlet.
4. Do not expose the Cliffwood to rain or excessive moisture.

INTRODUCTION:

The VPI Cliffwood is a high-end entry level turntable. The Cliffwood comes complete with a VPI Green
cartridge which is made by Grado on a 9 inch Gimbaled/Yoke bearing. It is the perfect solution to enjoy
your records! It also has standard RCA connections giving the ability to hook up to any standard phono.
The Cliffwood turntable is a precision instrument.

OPENING THE BOX:

The Cliffwood by VPI is protected by custom designed foam packaging to make it easy to remove and
begin your listening experience. All foam parts easily lift off from the box. Make sure to save all
packaging in the event you ever need to safely ship your Cliffwood table.

Setting up the Cliffwood

Technically, the Cliffwood is ready to go out of the box, but the following is recommended for when using
your Cliffwood.
1. Place the turntable chassis on the shelf or stand where it will be used. The better isolation you
provide the Cliffwood, the better it will sound. We highly recommend a 1 to 3-inch-thick maple shelf
sitting on rubber isolator feet for this purpose.
2. The platter bearing is lubricated; no additional lubrication is needed for at least one year. If you need
to lubricate the bearing place 3 drops of 40 weight motor oil in the spindle hole.
3. Connect the power cord to turntable.
4. The drive belt around the platter and around the pulley on the motor. The belt does not have to be
level on the platter. It will self-level when the platter starts rotating.
Follow the instructions below to reduce risk of electrical hazard or
injury.
