Assigning the motor to the digital twin

To be able to use the functionality of the connectivity module optimally, SIMOTICS CONNECT
400 requires the correct assignment to the motor. For connectivity modules mounted in the
factory, the manufacturer's article number and the serial number of the motor are preset and
you can skip the step "Assigning the motor to the digital twin".
If the connectivity module is retrofitted or replaced with a replacement device, the
manufacturer's article number and the serial number of the motor must be reassigned. This
operation then updates the associated motor information. Only assign the connectivity module
to the motor on which it is mounted. In step "Enter asset data" (Page 37), choose from among
the following options:
● Motor assignment by manual entry of the manufacturer's article number and the serial
number
Enter the manufacturer's article number and the serial number of the motor into the
"SIDRIVE IQ Config" application manually during the onboarding process. With the
manufacturer's article number and the serial number, the electrical and mechanical
characteristics of the motor are copied from its digital twin stored in the cloud and transferred
into the connectivity module.
● Motor assignment with the data matrix code of the motor
If the motor is equipped with a scannable code, you can identify the motor to which you have
local access. The scan reads the manufacturer's article number and the serial number.
Scan the motor data matrix code by tapping on
Note
Motor assignment by scanning the data matrix code is only possible if the Siemens motor
has been provided with a 2D code.
● If there is no data set for your motor from the digital twin, e.g. for legacy motors before 2011
or for motors of other manufacturers, you can create a new motor data set manually for
setup (see Chapter Onboarding process - creating a new motor data set (Page 41)).

Entering asset data

After you have initiated the onboarding process, you must complete the asset data. The
MindSphere URL and the path for registration are already preset as default setting.
The following diagram shows the dialog to enter asset data:
