  • Page 3 Grounding Your Unit To ground your unit: 1. Remove the two Phillips screws. Remove the grounding lug from the rear panel of the unit. 2. Prepare the ground wire (minimum 14 AWG). Attach one end to the unit’s grounding lug using a crimping tool. 3.

    To connect the fiber-optic cable to the port: 1. Inspect the fi ber using a fi ber inspection probe, such as an EXFO FIP product or a standard microscope. If the fi ber is clean, proceed to connecting it to the port. If the fi ber is dirty, clean in accordance to good cleaning practices.

    TURNING ON THE UNIT As soon as you connect the unit to a power source, the companion starts its initialization (refer to the initialization process on page 3). Once the initialization is complete, you can turn on the host. Once the host is on, the operating system will be started automatically.
  • Page 6 SETTING UP THE UNIT (PLATFORM APPLICATION) Before setting up your IP address, make sure you have two different IP addresses under your corporate LAN: one for the Host (operating system and remote access) and another for the Companion (maintenance component). All the confi guration and provisioning will be perform from the laptop connected to the FG-750 front port.
