60 kV. Operating at higher voltages will damage the spray gun and decrease the life of internal components. The WM-1 spray gun is designed to operate at a maximum voltage of 60 kV. The Nordson EPS6 power supply is specially designed to provide electrostatic power to the spray gun.
Trigger Controls coating material flow from the WM-1 spray gun NOTE: Always fully draw the trigger during WM-1 spray gun operation and always lock out the trigger when the spray gun is not in use. Air flow will energize the power system.

Failure to observe this warning may result in serious injury and equipment damage. WARNING: Connecting more than one spray gun to a fluid delivery system not approved by the Nordson Corporation may be unsafe and in possible violation of National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) regulations.
Failure to observe this warning may result in personal injury, death, or equipment damage. To set the fluid flow rate of the WM-1 spray gun, perform the following steps: 1. See Figure 4-1. Disconnect the grounded air hose (2) from the connector (3).
Page 39
If the flow rate is too low, repeat steps 3 and 4 with the next larger size fluid tip. 2127005B Fig. 4-1 WM-1 spray gun adjustments 1. Thumb wheel 4. Trigger lock 2. Grounded air hose 5. Trigger 3.
5. Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 until the desired spray pattern and atomization is obtained. If necessary, adjust your delivery system fluid and air pressure. 6. Cover the exterior of the WM-1 spray gun with a Nordson cover. 7. Turn on the electrostatic power supply. 8. The system is now operational.

Failure to observe this warning may result in serious injury or death. To keep the WM-1 spray gun operating properly, set up and follow a regular cleaning schedule. Proper use of the disposable covers will reduce cleanup time. A dirty or material-coated extension will allow the electrostatic charge to bleed back toward the grounded handle.
Page 44
Maintenance 5. Unlock the trigger lock. Flush the WM-1 gun into a suitably grounded 2. Maintenance (contd.) container. 6. Turn off the solvent supply and relieve pressure. Disconnect the fluid and air hoses. WARNING: Do not point the spray gun toward you or other personnel.

This section contains troubleshooting procedures and identifies common spray pattern faults. These procedures cover only the most common problems that you may encounter. If you cannot solve the problem with the information given here, contact your local Nordson representative for help. Problem...
Reduce pressures. too high Pattern/horn air flow too high Adjust the pattern/horn air. 4. Excessive dry spray WM-1 spray gun held too far away Move closer to the substrate. from substrate Pattern/horn air too high Adjust the pattern/horn air. Coating material flow too low Increase coating material flow rate or decrease air pressure.
Page 49
Low fluid pressure If within the fluid pressure limit of the spray gun, slowly raise fluid pressure. NOTE: The WM-1 spray gun is rated for a fluid pressure of 5.17 bar (75 psi) maximum. Coating material too viscous Check that coating material is mixed properly.
Troubleshooting Figure 6-1 shows some common spray pattern faults of the WM-1 spray 3. Spray Pattern Faults gun. Troubleshooting procedures for these and other common film-build faults are listed in Table 6-1. If you cannot solve your problems with the information given here, contact your local Nordson representative for help.
3. Relieve coating material and air pressure within the fluid delivery system. 4. See Figure 7-1. Disconnect the grounded air hose (4) from the WM-1 spray gun connector (5). 5. Loosen the captive screw (1) securing the rear slide (2). Remove the rear slide by sliding upward.
