Some server models come with a RAID card to provide advanced SATA/SAS hardware RAID functions to the
server. For more information, refer to "Installing or removing a PCIe card" on page 85.
Note: The option kit for the RAID card is designed for different types of servers and might contain additional
cables that are not required for your server.
Your server supports the following RAID cards:
• Lenovo ThinkServer RAID 500 PCIe Adapter (hereinafter referred to as RAID 500 Adapter)
• Lenovo ThinkServer RAID 520i PCIe Adapter (hereinafter referred to as RAID 520i Adapter)
• Lenovo ThinkServer RAID 710 PCIe Adapter (hereinafter referred to as RAID 710 Adapter)
• Lenovo ThinkServer RAID 720i PCIe Adapter (hereinafter referred to as RAID 720i Adapter)
ThinkServer RAID 500 Adapter
The following illustration shows the connectors on the RAID 500 Adapter.

Connector 0
Used to connect a mini-SAS signal cable to the mini-SAS ports 0-3 on the backplane.

Connector 1
Used to connect a mini-SAS signal cable to the mini-SAS ports 4-7 on the backplane for 2.5-inch drives.

TR 500 key connector
Used to connect a Lenovo ThinkServer RAID 500 RAID 5 Upgrade Key for Advanced RAID. See "Installing or
removing the Lenovo ThinkServer RAID 500 or 520i upgrade key" on page 75.
