OPERATION

3.
3.1

Sending a Recording

The StaR Adapter can be used to download a pre-recorded
message to another recording device. This is useful for changing
messages on announcement devices at other physical locations.
3.1.1
Connecting Your Cassette Player
(NOTE: Only battery operated cassette players are rec-
ommended). Set the cassette player volume control to its mid
position. Insert one end of the audio patch cord in the "EAR"
or "MONITOR" jack of the cassette player. Insert the other end
into the "TAPE IN" jack located on the front panel of the StaR
Adapter (FIGURE 7).
3.1.2
Cue and Pause the Cassette Player
Place the pre-recorded announcement cassette in the cassette
player. Advance the tape to the start "CUE" position and depress
the "PAUSE" button.
3.1.3
Accessing the Remote Device
Using your telephone, dial-up the remote access feature of the
announcement system. Depress both buttons on the StaR Adapter
until the red indicators are visible.
3.1.4
Sending the Recording
Most announcement devices will require the use of touch tones
to perform remote operations such as recording or monitoring.
Using the instructions provided with your particular
announcement device start the recording function for the proper
message (or channel) on the remote announcement device.

When the recording starts, release the "PAUSE" button on the
cassette player to allow the tape to start playing. The recording
programs can be monitored using the telephone's handset (or
headset). Repeat this procedure until all announcements are
recorded.
3.1.5
Checking the Recording
We recommend that you call and monitor the recordings you
have just sent. If the volume at the remote location is unsatis-
factory, the cassette player volume control may have to be
adjusted to provide a more satisfactory level. If the recordings
are unsatisfactory, a poor telephone connection may have been
established. You may want to try to obtain a clearer connection
and re-record the message.
