TURNTABLE OPERATION

1. Press the FUNCTION button / to select Phono mode.
2. Set the SPEED CONTROL SWITCH at the correct speed (331/3, 45 or 78 rpm) for the record to be played.
3. Lift the CUE LEVER to raise the Tone Arm off its rest. Move the Tone Arm over the record and use the Cue Lever to
lower it to the point you want the record to start playing. At the end of the record, The TONE ARM will stop
automatically. Return it back to the arm rest by hand.
NOTE: The Turntable and Cassette Player both operate in the same (Phono) mode. Make sure the Cassette
Player is in STOP mode when listening to a record.
TURNTABLE ACCESSORY SUPPLIED: Spindle Adaptor for 45rpm records
Some 45rpm records may have lost the centre part which allows them to fit onto the Turntable Spindle.
To play such 45rpm records, remove the round Adaptor from the turntable deck by placing
thumb & forefinger in the recesses and pulling it upwards – place the adaptor on the spindle in
the centre of the Turntable. The record can then be placed on the turntable.
STYLUS REPLACEMENT/REFIT
·
To remove the Stylus from the Tone Arm, hold the Tone Arm head steady while
grabbing the plastic Stylus Holder with two fingers - then gently pull the complete
stylus holder straight towards you and off the cartridge, as shown in the diagram.
·
To replace/refit the Stylus, hold the sides of the red plastic stylus holder, ensuring the
needle is facing downwards. Gently push the back of the stylus holder straight against
the silver cartridge at the end of the TONE ARM until you are sure it is securely fitted.
·
Refit the protective needle cover, if so required.
NOTES: A replacement universal (45/33 1/3/78rpm) or a special 78rpm Stylus is available
from the Manufacturer or some Dealers. Always handle the stylus with care as the
Sapphire needle tip is easily damaged. When transporting the turntable it is advisable
to refit the protective needle cover until the unit is going to be used again.
When removing or re-fitting the Stylus, always be careful not to put too much pressure
on the Stylus Holder and the TONE ARM cartridge to avoid any possible damage to them.

PLAYING A CASSETTE

4. For fast forwarding, press the CASSETTE EJECT/F.F half-way in.
5. Pressing it again will stop the fast forwarding and return the cassette to playing mode.
6. To stop and eject the cassette, press the CASSETTE EJECT/F.F in completely.
7. When one side of the tape finishes playing, the cassette will automatically stop.
NOTE: Remove the cassette from the unit when it has stopped or is not in use.
CASSETTE CARE
Two common causes of trouble experienced when using cassettes are:
1. Tape jamming, leading to uneven speed during playback.
2. Tape entangling, when the tape wraps itself around vital
parts of the mechanism.
To avoid these problems occurring, take the following precautions:
·
Check that there are no loose layers of tape visible through the
cassette centre window (see fig. 1).
·
Before inserting the cassette into the mechanism, take up any loose
layers, using a pencil or hexagonally barrelled ballpoint pen (see fig. 2).
NOTES: If the cassette feels tight whilst performing this operation (see fig. 2), the tape may be jamming due to ridges
formed in the winding of the tape (visible through the centre window). In most cases, these may be removed by fast
rewinding of the cassette from one end to the other and back again. We recommend you use only well-known brands of
tape. Do not expose cassettes to direct sunlight, dust, moisture or oil, and take care that you DO NOT TOUCH THE
TAPE SURFACES.
