The filter order specifies the change in level relative
to the frequency, i.e., it indicates the "slope" of the
frequency curve. The high-end filter order indicates
the level decrease at the high end of the frequency
curve. A first-order filter decreases the signal level
by 6 decibels per octave (dB/oct). An "octave" is the
point where the frequency is doubled(octave above)
or halved(octave below). Each filter order decreases
the slope of the level change by -6 dB:
