Operating the Printer
Boosting the voltage
If you have a complete set of ink cartridges of the same type that are performing poorly, you may be able
to improve the performance of the group by boosting the voltage. If you need to affect the voltage of a
single cartridge, see
Checking Ink Status on page
Before taking this step, make sure that the cartridge has been properly cleaned. If print quality does not
improve with cleaning, boost the voltage of all cartridges of the same type.
To increase the voltage for a type of cartridge:
1. Tap the Edit (paper/pencil) icon next to the cartridge. The Edit Ink Type screen opens.
2. Tap the Boost entry box to open the numeric keyboard to increase the voltage on a particular ink
cartridge. DO NOT increase the voltage more than the maximum listed on the
touchscreen.
Once entered, the printer memory will recall this information even if the cartridge is removed and
reinstalled in this printer later.
Caution: Boosting the voltage above the maximum shown will damage the ink
cartridge, cartridge holder and printer.
