the workpiece with the thickness reaching up to the maximum cutting ability of the machine, the
ring scum formed when moving the cutting torch after perforation is finished will come into
contact with the cutting torch.
Common failures in automatic cutting
Pilot arc can be started by the cutting torch, but it cannot be transferred. This may be caused by:
a)
The connector of the workpiece cable of the cutting bed is in poor contact or the cutting
bed is not correctly grounded.
b)
The distance between the cutting torch and workpiece is too big.
The workpiece is not cut fully and there are excessive sparks above the workpiece. This may be
caused by:
a)
The connector of the workpiece cable of the cutting bed is in poor contact or the cutting
bed is not correctly grounded.
b)
The current is set too low.
c)
The cutting speed is too high.
d)
The wearing parts of the torch are worn.
e)
The workpiece is too thick.
There is scum formed at the bottom of the workpiece. This may be caused by:
a)
The cutting speed is inappropriate.
b)
The current is set too low.
c)
The wearing parts of the torch are worn.
The cutting angle is not straight. This may be cause by:
a)
The moving direction of the cutting torch is incorrect. The cutting torch should move
rightwards in order to get high quality cut surface.
b)
The distance between the cutting torch and workpiece is inappropriate.
c)
The cutting speed is inappropriate.
d)
The wearing parts of the torch are worn.
The lifespan of the wearing parts are shortened. This may be caused by:
a)
The variables such as arc current, arc voltage and travel speed are not setappropriately.
b)
Arc is released towards the air (arc is removed away from the metal surface when starting
and ending cutting). You can start cutting from the edge as long as the arc comes into
contact with the workpiece when starting arc.
c)
The height of the cutting torch is incorrect when beginning to perforate. The perforation
height is generally 2.5 times the cutting height when using I-PLAS60 cutting system.
