Chapter 4
Quick Configuration for Internet Access
This chapter provides instructions for configuring the Model RT328 ISDN Router using the Quick
configuration option of the FirstGear configuration utility. This interview style quick procedure is
intended for the simple application of allowing a workstation or small network to access an
Internet service provider (ISP) using IP routing. You might want to perform basic configuration
using this procedure and then modify the configuration later using the Advanced configuration
procedure.
Quick Router Configuration
Most of the information you need for basic configuration of your ISDN router is provided by your
local telephone company and your Internet service provider. If at any time you need help on the
format or the meaning of the information required, click on the question mark (?) button that is
next to the field in question. A text box is displayed describing the meaning of the information
requested, the format required, and, in some cases, the source of the information (for example, the
telephone company).
Any changes made in the configuration screens do not take effect until you download the new
configuration to the router. This is done by selecting the Send to Router button on the final screen.
To configure your router using the Quick configuration procedure, select Quick from the Main
Menu. The information screens that are displayed follow the same order as the following sections.
Refer to the instructions in each section.
