Front Panel of the Router The front panels of the Model RT328 router and the Model RH348 router are almost identical. The LAN LEDs are the main distinguishing feature. The table below describes all of the LEDs on the front panel of both routers.

Refer to this diagram to identify all of the ports on the router when you attempt to make any connections. The Model RT328 router has an AUI port and one UTP LAN port. The Model RH348 router has four UTP LAN ports. Otherwise, the rear panels are identical.

If you require MultilinkPPP and/or compression, ask whether or not your ISP supports these features. Network Checklist The Model RT328/RH348 router uses the Internet Protocol (IP). The IP configuration has the following requirements: • All PCs must have TCP/IP manually installed and manually selected as the networking protocol.
For your ISDN connection, use the black cable that is provided. For your LAN connection: • Use a red crossover cable for connecting your Model RT328 router to a PC. • Use a white straight-through cable for connecting your Model RT328 router to an Ethernet hub.
At this point your PC is configured to obtain its TCP/IP configuration information automatically from a DHCP server on the local network. The Model RT328/RH348 router is shipped preconfigured as a DHCP server and will assign the TCP/IP configuration information described in the previous section.
Your Model RT328/RH348 router is now fully configured to provide Internet access for your network.
