Maintaining the Hedge Trimmer
ATTENTION! Before cleaning or inspecting the hedge trimmer, make sure
that motor has stopped and cooled down. The hedge trimmer and the blade
bar will become hot during use. There is risk of burns!
Before maintaining the hedge trimmer, remove the battery from the unit.
Always wear gloves when handling the blade bar.
Preferably lubricate the blade bar every 4 hours of operation. Lightly loosen
the bolts at the rear side of the blade bar and apply a few drops oil into the
opening. Re-tighten the bolts. Before each use, check for firm fit of all bots
and nuts.
Sharpening the Blade Bar
Regularly check the cutting teeth of the blade bar and, if necessary sharpen the
teeth. A dull blade bar will overload the hedge trimmer.
1.
For sharpening, clamp the blade bar in a vice.
2.
Sharpen the cutting teeth as shown in the drawings. You can sharpen the
cutting teeth by using an endless abrasive belt or a smooth flat file. Suitable
sharpening tools and machines can be ordered at Westfalia.
