Setting the password for Avaya IX
About this task
Use this procedure to set the password for your Avaya IX
first activate the phone or after a reset to the phone factory settings.
Before you begin
Connect the PoE cable to ensure the phone power supply.
Procedure
1. Wait for the following message to appear on the phone screen:
For full functionality, please set administration password.
2. Tap Yes to set the password.
3. (Optional) Tap Skip to avoid setting the password. In this case Avaya IX
Phone B199 will be functioning in the user mode with the restricted number of
configuration options.
4. Using the keyboard on the phone screen, type your password. It can contain letters,
numbers, and special characters.
The password must contain at least 4 characters. When the user enters the password, the
phone hints if the password is bad or good.
5. Type the password again to confirm it.

Changing the password
About this task
Use this procedure to change the administrator's password on the phone.
Procedure
1. On the phone's screen, tap Settings > Admin login.
2. Enter your administrator's password to get the full functionality available.
3. Select Settings > Phone > Security.
4. Enter the new password. The phone hints if the new password is good enough.
5. Confirm the password. The phone informs if the password matches the previously entered
one.
The phone changes the password and reboots.
