Setting/changing the device name for an FF device
The following applies to FF devices in a PCS 7 plant:
● The length of the device name is 32 characters (will be automatically filled with empty
spaces).
● The following characters are not permitted:

Use SIMATIC PDM to set the device name.
Requirements
● The following option has been enabled for at least one AS in SIMATIC Manager > SIMATIC
PDM Options > Settings:
Select type when device is inserted in HW Config
● The device descriptions of the required field devices are integrated in SIMATIC PDM.

Step FF Link
a Select the IM 153‑2 FF.
b Double-click on the slot of the first
"FDC 157" in the table.
The "Properties - Coupler" dialog box
opens.
c Select the "Parameters" tab.
d Select the redundancy mode in the "Value" column:
● No redundant configuration (default)
● Coupler redundancy
● Ring redundancy
Information If you want to use ring redundancy, the "RING" DIP switch must be set to the "ON"
