Assign addresses in the I/O range and symbolic names for signals
You need to assign addresses in the I/O range of the CPU for required signals of FF devices.
1. Select the FF device.
2. Select signals and assign addresses in I/O range:
Select the required signals for all block types in the address table of the FF device.
You can use the typical Windows method for multiple selection.
Note
You can find information about the block types in the section "Block model of device
parameters (Page 15)". The following block types are used by default:
● Resource block
● Function blocks
● Transducer blocks
Refer to the documentation of the device manufacturer for information about the required
blocks and any necessary CiF interconnections.
– In the shortcut menu, select the menu command Assign Address.
– Click "OK".
3. Recommendation: Assign symbolic names
This measure makes configuration easier:
Assign symbolic names for all addresses.
– Select a required row (function) again in the address table.
– Select the menu command Edit symbols....
– Assign a name in the "Symbol" list. You can automatically add the symbols.
– Click "OK".
– Repeat this step for all required functions of the FF device.
4. Select Station > Save and Compile from the menu.
Note
Macro cycle
If messages on the macro cycle are output when saving, settings are required.
You can find information on this in the section "How to plan the macrocycle (Page 49)".

The dialog box "Properties <signal>" opens.
The addresses in the I/O range are assigned for the selected signals.
The "Edit symbols - ..." dialog box opens.
