After having
switched-off the volt-
age open the termi-
nal box of the sens-
ing head and remove
the upper section.
1
Disconnect the
sensor leads from
the terminals and
unscrew old sen-
sor.
2
Remove old sensor. Shorten sensor leads of the
new sensor adequately and nd cut-off the isolation
by approx. 8 to 10 mm. Use ferrules enclosed.
3
Screw in new sensor and secure it against self-
loosening e.g. with Loctite No. 221.
To maintain the ingress protection IP 66 and for rea-
sons of explosion protection observe that the sensor's
O-ring is tightly fitted.
4
Connect sensor leads to terminals:
Terminal 1 – brown lead
Terminal 2 – yellow lead
Terminal 3 – black lead
Close the terminal box ensuring it is dust free.

Unscrew and re-
move old sensor. Cut-off sensor connector, short-
en the sensor leads adequately and cut-off the
insulation by approx. 8 to 10 mm. Use ferrules en-
closed.
Screw the new sensor tightly into the port. Five
threads must be engaged to ensure the type of
protection "d".
3
Connect sensor leads to terminals:
Terminal 1 – brown lead
Terminal 2 – yellow lead
Terminal 3 – black lead
Terminal 4 (if existing) is not connected
Close the terminal box while considering the relevant
explosion protection rules. Ensure the housing is
free of dust and lock the headless screw of the cover.

Switch-on after Sensor Replacement

1
Switch on power of the controller resp. insert the cor-
responding channel module.
Observe warm-up time of the new sensor of at least
30 minutes.
Start the calibration procedure, page 37 - after each
sensor replacement.
For reasons of explosion protection the DrägerSensor
of the sensing heads Polytron SE Ex LC M1/2/3 DD
and Polytron SE Ex LC NPT1 DD is only allowed to be
disassembled (opened and closed) by the Dräger
Service using a special tool.
