Connect controller to networks

• Connect the management port (wrench icon) on
your controller to the Ethernet switch in your man-
agement network, using a network cable.
See your network administrator for help connecting
to your switches.
• Connect 10GigE ports or GigE ports
for data connection.

The serial console is needed to configure a management IP address
for the AltaVault appliance, using a client. Once this is done, further
configuration can be done using a Web browser and connecting to
the management IP address.
Note that di erent clients may have di erent connection settings.
For example, on a PuTTY connection, set the keyboard to VT100+,
flow control to OFF, and baud rate to 9600.

Altavault systems support controller to shelf cables
For optimal system performance, use one of the supported cable configurations displayed below.
• Configure up to three shelves with the AVA400 model
• Configure up to four shelves with the AVA800 model

- Ensure the power switch
on each power supply is in
the OFF position (O).
- Cable both power supplies
for each controller chassis.
DO NOT power on the controller at this point.
