Safety requirement for handling and installing modules This section provides the information necessary for the proper and safe handling of hardware components for the Avaya Advanced Gateway 2330 (AG2330). Please read and apply this information to all aspects of the instructions in this manual.
The Lithium battery in this product is part of a non-volatile memory device and will retain data for 10 years in the absence of power. Avaya does not consider the lithium battery in this unit a field replaceable or serviceable part and should not be accessed by the customer.
TIP must connect to TIP and RING must connect to RING. FXS/DID ground start does not work if polarity is reversed. Important: Avaya does not support FXS/DID port connections leaving the building. Use FXS/DID connections for intra-building purposes only. Warning: The 2- and 4-port FXS/DID interface modules have a ring signal generator that is a source of hazardous voltage.
Avaya Advanced Gateway 2330 safety precautions Foreign Exchange Office/Centralized Automatic Message Accounting (FXO/CAMA) Interface Modules Important: Ensure you use standard straight-through RJ11 modular telephone cables with FXO/ CAMA interface modules. TIP must connect to TIP and RING must connect to RING.
Personal safety and equipment protection Cables and connectors protection The following practices prevent damage to cables and connectors: • Use caution when connecting cables. Take care to ensure you insert each cable connector in the correct port for the purpose you intend. For example, ensure you connect LAN cables and connectors to LAN ports on the AG2330.

37 Replaceable parts for Avaya Advanced Gateway 2330 This section lists the parts of the AG2330 that you can replace. A certified Avaya technician must replace any other components or parts. You can hot swap the interface modules without affecting system operation.
Page 25
Replaceable parts for Avaya Advanced Gateway 2330 Table 10: AG2330 replaceable parts Part Hot swap Limitations capable External You can replace the external interface module with a interface module of the same type that you remove. You must modules insert the replacement module in the same slot as that of the module being removed.
37 Installing the interface modules You install the optional interface modules in the front panel of the Avaya Advanced Gateway 2330 (AG2330) chassis. Avaya strongly recommends that you power down the AG2330 if you are installing an interface module in a slot in which you have not previously installed that module type.
Use the procedure in this section to install a Small Module in the AG2330. Avaya recommends that you power down the AG2330 if you are installing an interface module in a slot in which you have not previously installed that module type.
Page 29
Important: Avaya recommends that you shut down an operating interface module using the shutdown command before you remove it from the AG2330 chassis. Traffic on the interface module you are hot swapping is interrupted during the hot swap procedure.
AG2330 is already powered, you can insert the external power supply while the AG2330 is running. When you use the external power supply for power redundancy, Avaya recommends using two independent AC power outlets: one outlet to feed the AG2330 chassis and the other to feed the redundant external power supply.
Connecting Avaya Advanced Gateway 2330 power cables 2. Insert the DC power cable jack into the AG2330 12VDC port. 3. Connect the appropriate ends of the appropriately rated AC power cord to the power supply and to an AC outlet.
2. Insert the male end of the power cord in a standard 110/220 V AC power outlet. On the Advanced Gateway 2330, no power switch exists, so the gateway begins to power up as soon as the power cord is connected to an outlet.
Removing the AG2330 top cover Procedure steps 1. Insert the male RJ-45 connector in the console port of the AG2330. 2. Connect the female DB-9 to RJ-45 adapter to the opposite end of the console cable, if necessary. 3. Insert the RJ-45 or female DB-9 connector (dependent on your equipment) in a terminal or PC.
Installing Avaya Advanced Gateway 2330 hardware components 2. Remove the three screws securing the left-hand side of the top cover to the chassis. 3. Remove the three screws securing the right-hand side bracket to the chassis and the top cover.
Replacing the AG2330 DDR2 SO-DIMM Prerequisites • Ensure you have a PVIM module ready to install before opening the chassis top cover. • Ensure you have a Phillips #1 screwdriver. • Ensure the AG2330 is powered off. Procedure steps 1. Remove the AG2330 top cover. For information, see Removing the AG2330 top cover on page 33.

Chapter 6: Environmental requirements The Avaya Advanced Gateway 2330 (AG2330) must operate within the specified tolerance limits shown in the following table. Important: Install the AG2330 in a restricted-access location. You must limit access to the AG2330 to authorized service personnel only. Ensure you allow 2 to 3 feet (0.61 to 0.91 m) of additional clearance around the AG2330 for access to the cable connectors on the front and rear panels.
