For Your Safety

Strictly follow the Instructions for Use
Any use of the gas transmitter requires full understanding
and strict observation of these instructions. This gas trans-
mitter is only to be used for the purposes specified her e.
Maintenance
Repair of the gas transmitter may only be carried out by
trained service personnel. We strongly recommend that a
service contract be signed with Dräger Safety to have them
handle repairs and maintenance. Only authentic Dräger
spare parts may be used for maintenance. Be sure to read
the information contained in the chapter "Maintenance".
Accessories
Only use accessories listed in the order list.
Safe connection of electrical devices
Do not connect electrical devices not mentioned in this
manual before contacting the manufacturer or an expert.
Use in areas subject to explosion hazards
Equipment or components which are used in potentially
explosive atmospheres and were tested and approved
according to national, European or international regulations
may only be used in conditions specified in the appr oval
and under observation of relevant legal regulations. The
electrical equipment may not be modified. The use of
defective or incomplete parts is not permissible. When
making repairs to equipment or components of this type,
the relevant regulations must be adhered to.
Liability for proper function or damage
The liability for the proper functioning of the gas transmitter
is irrevocably transferred to the owner or operator to the
extent that the gas sensor is ser viced or repaired by per-
sonnel not employed or authorized by Dräger Safety or if
the device is used in a manner not conforming to its

intended use.

Dräger Safety cannot be held responsible for damage
caused by non-compliance with the above recommenda-
tions. The warranty and liability provisions of the terms and
conditions of sale and deliver y of Dräger Safety are simi-
larly not modified by the above recommendations.
Intended Use
Dräger PIR 7000 Infrared Gas Transmitter
– For stationary, continuous monitoring of the concentra-
tion of combustible gases and vapours containing hydro-
carbons in a suitable atmosphere.
– Display range
0 to 20 ... 100 %LEL*,
type 334: (IDS 01x1)
0 to 100 % vol methane.
– Display range
0 to 5 ... 100 %LEL*,
type 340 :(IDS 01x2)
e.g. 0 to 850 ppm propane.
– Can be alternatively configured for various gases and va-
pours.

Dräger PIR 7200 infrared gas transmitter
– For stationary, continuous monitoring of the concentra-
tion of carbon dioxide in the ambient air.
– Display range:
0 to 0,2 ... 10 % vol carbon
(IDS 01x3)
dioxide
With analogue output signal from 4 to 20 mA for measuring
mode, bi-directional serial interface and HART
for configuration and measuring mode (optional).
Suitable for use in rough ambient conditions (e.g. of f-
shore).
For installation alternatively in Ex areas zone 1, 2 or 21, 22
corresponding to device categor y 2G, 3G or 2D, 3D or
Class I or II, Div. 1 or 2 hazardous areas.
In connection with a central device (e.g. Dräger
REGARD):
– Warning before an explosive concentration level is
reached.
– Automatic initiation of countermeasures which avert the
explosion hazard (e.g. switching on ventilation).
– Device error warning.
– Special calibration mode (blocking of alarm triggering,
one-man calibration).
In connection with the Dräger PEX 3300 / Dräger PEX
7300 operating and display instrument (see Technical
Handbook, 90 23 886):
– Display of the measurement value.
– Configuration of the gas transmitter.

Tests and approvals

The explosion-protection approvals are valid for the use of
the gas transmitter in gas/vapour-air mixtures of combusti-
ble gases and vapours or dust-air-mixtures of combustible
dusts under atmospheric conditions. The explosion-pr o-
tection approvals are not valid for use in oxygen enriched
atmospheres.

Installing GasVision
Only trained service personnel (e.g. Dräger Safety service
personnel) may install the gas transmitter under observa-
tion of the regulations applicable at the respective location.
Mounting
– Select the mounting location to achieve the maximum
detection effect. Free air circulation around the gas
®
interface
transmitter must not be hampered.
– The mounting location of the gas transmitter must be se-
lected as near as possible to the location of the possible
leakage place:
– to monitor gases or vapours that are lighter than air,
the gas transmitter should be installed above the pos-
sible leakage place.
– to monitor gases or vapours that are heavier than air,
the gas transmitter should be installed as near to the
ground as possible.
– Local air flow conditions must be considered. Install the
gas transmitter at the location at which you can expect
the highest gas concentration.
– Install the gas transmitter in a position where there is the
lowest risk of mechanical damage. The gas transmitter
must be sufficiently accessible for servicing. Observe a
clearance of approx. 20 cm around the gas transmitter!
Please observe the pre-draw position
– If a splash guard is used then take care when mounting
to ensure that the status indicator lights are in a vertical
row. The "Dräger" writing of the splash guard must be
able to be read horizontally.
– Any other form of assembly is only permissible in case of
gas transmitters without a splash guard – there is there-
by an increased risk of soiling of the optical surface
areas!
ATTENTION: Water and/or dir t on the optical sur-
face areas may trip a warning or fault.
Mechanical Installation
On no account should you attempt to open the housing
of the gas transmitter! The device does not contain
any parts that can be serviced by the user. Opening of
the device invalidates all guarantee claims.
The gas transmitter is designed to be directly attached to a
junction box. We recommend using the junction box Ex e
PIR 011 (68 11 898) for the model with M25 thread
(IDS 7000x).
Furthermore, any approved junction box can be used that
has an M25 (EEx e and Ex tD)- or 3/4" NPT (EEx d or Explo-
sion Proof and Ex tD) insertion opening (depending on the
thread of the gas transmitter) and connection terminals for
at least three wires (four wires when using the serial inter-
face communication) and earth. The junction box must be
suitable for the place of assembly and the application.
