Mounting and Connection Instructions IDENT-KEY operating units
1.
Safety instructions
Please read this manual carefully and completely before installing and starting to work with this
unit. This manual contains important information on mounting, programming and operation.
The unit has been built in accordance with state-of-the-art standards: Only use the unit.
- according to the designated use and
- in technically perfect and correctly installed condition
- according to the technical data
.
The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage resulting from use contrary to the designated
purpose.
Mounting, programming, maintenance and repair works must be carried out only by authorized
trained persons.
Soldering and connecting works on the entire system may only be carried out when disconnected
from mains.
Soldering works must only be performed with a temperature-regulated soldering iron galvanicaly
separated from the mains.
The safety regulations by VDE and the prescriptions of the local electricity supplier have to be
observed.
The operating unit must not be used in explosion endangered environment or in
rooms with metal- and plastic-decomposing vapours.
Wipe housing and keypad
with soft lint-free dry cloth, or one that has been
lightly dampened with water.
Abrasive cleaners or chemicals of any kind will damage or discolour the surface
of the housing.

General information
The IDENT-KEY operating units serve as switching elements for arming/disarming of intrusion
detection systems in combination with the IK2 / IK3 evaluation units and the corresponding IK2 code
carriers (
IK-key fob, IK-key cap, wrist watch and contactless ID-cards)
When using the IDENT-KEY operating units a suitable mechanic blocking device (e.g. pulse controlled
door strike, electromechanical blocking element) which is activated by the intrusion detection central
unit has to be integrated.
With the completely encapsulated design (potted connecting cables and electronics) the international
protection class
IP 65
according to DIN 40 050 is achieved, thus allowing uncomplicated mounting
even outdoors.
The IDENT-KEY operating units are released contactless and without mechanic switching elements.
They are not direct switching devices, but serve as sensors for the evaluation units connected on
incoming side.
The electronics inside the housing has two tasks:
a.) To read the encoded signal of the IDENT-KEY code carrier and to transmit it to the evaluation unit.
b.) Optical and acoustical indication functions.
There are 3 LEDs for optical indication, 2 of them can be activated externally (disarmed and
alarm). The LEDs and an integrated buzzer will only be activated when released. The optical and
acoustical indicators can be activated optionally from the intrusion detection central unit or by the
IDENT-KEY evaluation unit.
