is recognized and shown as up and running.

Replacing Hard Drives

The SC200 and SC220 enclosures support hot-swappable hard drives. The SC200
enclosure supports up to 12 3.5-inch hard drives installed in a four-column, three-row
configuration. The SC220 enclosure supports up to 24 2.5-inch hard drives installed
vertically side-by-side. Hard drives are connected to a backplane through hard drive
carriers. Hard drive blanks are installed in the hard drive bays that are not occupied.

Hard Drive Numbering

Hard drives are numbered on the enclosure.
SC200 hard drives are numbered 0-11, from left to right and top to bottom, starting with 0
on the upper left side.

Identifying the Failed Hard Drive

To determine which hard drive failed, use the Storage Center System Manager.
1 In the System Tree, expand the Enclosures entry.
2 Expand the failed enclosure entry (indicated with a red dot).
3 Click Disks. The status of each hard drive is displayed.
4 To see the location of the failed hard drive, expand the Disks entry, and click on the
failed hard drive entry to display a front view of the enclosure.
Dell Compellent
Note: Allow several seconds for the enclosure to recognize the power supply/
cooling fan module and determine its status. When functioning properly, the
power supply/cooling fan module's AC power LED turns green and the power
supply/cooling fan LED is off. In addition, the power supply status indicator turns
green in the Storage Center System Manager.
