4.1 MOUNTING OF COMPRESSOR

A foundation or mounting capable of supporting the
weight of the compressor, and rigid enough to
maintain the compressor frame level and the com-
pressor in alignment is required. The compressor
frame must be leveled and secured with foundation
bolts, and full uniform contact must be maintained
between the frame and foundation. The compres-
sor unit and driver must be aligned after installation
as specified in the Operator's Manual. No piping
loads shall be transmitted to the compressor at the
external connections.

4.2 ELECTRICAL PREPARATION

Interior electrical wiring is performed at the factory.
Any other wiring should be performed by a qualified
electrician and in full compliance with OSHA,
National Electrical code and/or any applicable
Federal, State and Local codes, standards and reg-
ulations concerning isolation switches, fuse discon-
nects etc. Customer wiring is very minimal. Sullair
provides a wiring diagram for use by the installer.
A few electrical checks should be made for a trou-
ble-free start-up.
Lethal shock hazard inside. Disconnect all power
at source before opening or servicing starter or
control panel.
1. Check incoming voltage. Be sure that the incom-
ing voltage is the same as the rated voltage for
the compressor.
2. Check all electrical connections for tightness.
3. A similar procedure can be followed to obtain the
correct rotation on the fan by switching leads at
the fan starter.

4.3 MOTOR ROTATION DIRECTION CHECK

Motor direction and rotation direction have been
checked at Sullair prior to delivery. However if there
is a need to check direction, proceed with the fol-
lowing:
After the electrical wiring has been done, it is nec-
essary to check the direction of the motor rotation.
This can be done by jogging the START and STOP
buttons on the instrument panel. When looking at
the motor from the end opposite the compressor
unit, the shaft should be turning clockwise. If the
motor shaft is not turning in the proper direction,
disconnect the motor leads from the VSD and
exchange any two of the three power input leads,
then re-check rotation. A "Direction of Rotation"
decal is located on the coupling guard between the
motor and compressor to show proper motor/com-
pressor rotation.

4.4 FAN MOTOR ROTATION CHECK

Correct fan motor rotation can be determined by
observing the direction the arrow is pointing on the
rotation decal placed on the fan bracket for air-
cooled models. For water-cooled canopy models,
the rotation decal is located on the fan bracket situ-
ated just under the central portion of the canopy.
See the decal location sections in the standard
manual.
Correct fan motor rotation can also be determined
by verifying the direction of cooling air flow. Cooling
air should always flow outward from the compres-
sor.
If a change of fan direction is needed, reverse any
two of the three fan motor leads and jogging the
Start and Stop buttons on the control panel. Change
the lead combinations until proper direction is
obtained.
