The safety relay can also be energized via an external 20 ... 30 V DC power supply. This is shown as dotted lines
in Fig. 2-4. The grounded chassis potential of board SSB is accessible via connector X9 (terminal 2).
In order that SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES can power up the motor when an SSB board is installed, a jumper
should be inserted between pins 3 and 4 of connector X533 on the SSB board, or external circuitry according to
Fig. 2-4 should be connected.
When the "SAFETY OFF" function is active, it is possible to generate the "Run" state on the converter/inverter
in some instances. However, the pulses are not enabled in the power section, thus preventing the motor from
rotating. This "Run" state does not therefore pose any risk.
If the converter is switched to the "Run" state when the "Safety Off" function is active, error messages (e.g.
F012, F017, F025 to F027) might be generated.
The plant control must be programmed to utilize the ‚Checkback Safety Off' signal (X533 Pin 1/2) in such a
manner that the "SAFETY OFF" function can be deactivated only in the "READY TO RUN" or "READY FOR
ON" converter operating states. For this purpose and to ensure that the converter/inverter control correctly
interprets the "Safety Off" state and processes it in the sequencing control, a binary input on the closed-loop
control board must also be set for the purpose of generating the OFF2 command (cf. P555...P557) and thus a
starting lockout.
