Introduction

Thank you for selecting the Extech MO270 Moisture Analyzer with full graphical display. The
MO270 detects moisture in wood, particle board, carpeting, and ceiling/bathroom tiles non-
invasively (pinless); the MO270 also measures moisture in sheet rock and other building materials
using pins that are driven into the material under test. The Sensor unit (transmitter) detaches from
the Analyzer unit (receiver) for remote measurement operation. This analyzer is shipped fully
tested and calibrated and, with proper use, will provide years of reliable service. Extech
Instruments is an ISO-9001 certified company.
IMPORTANT NOTES - PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTINUING
The MO270 is a field upgradeable device in terms of its firmware. Please visit the
Extech Instruments website (www.extech.com) for the latest versions of the
firmware and the Instruction Manual.
To conserve battery energy, the MO270 is shipped with the two 'hidden' ON/OFF
switches set to OFF. Please refer to the 'Analyzer Components' diagram (items 5 and
6) in the Description section of this manual to locate these switches. Please switch
these ON in order to permit proper meter operation.
