This section covers the most common problems and corrections with this type of
machine. WARNING!.DO.NOT.make.any.adjustments.until.power.is.disconnected.and.
moving.parts.have.come.to.a.complete.stop!
PROBLEM
Motor will not start.
Fuses or circuit breakers
trip open.
Motor overheats.
Blade slows when cutting.
Blade makes a squealing
noise, especially on start-
up.
Blade does not run evenly
on wheels or runs off.
Blade does not cut evenly.
Wood cuts slow or smokes
during cut.
Blade will not cut a straight
line.
Blade comes off wheel.
Blade breaks frequently.

Troubleshooting

POSSIBLE.CAUSE
1. Low voltage.
2. Open circuit in motor or loose
connections.
3. Faulty start capacitor.
1. Short circuit in line cord or plug.
2. Short circuit in motor or loose
connections.
3. Incorrect fuses or circuit breakers
in power supply.
1. Motor overloaded.
2. Air circulation through motor
restricted.
1. V-belts loose.
2. V-belts worn out.
1. Tracking is not adjusted properly.
2. Rubber tire on wheel is damaged or
worn.
3. Wheels are not co-planar.
1. Blade tension is incorrect.
2. Tooth set is uneven.
3. Teeth are sharper on one side than
the other.
1. Worn or dull blade, missing teeth
2. Blade installed backwards.
3. Blade spinning backwards due to
reversed wires at terminal strip
(3-phase only).
4. Wrong teeth per inch.
1. Blade tension is incorrect.
2. Blade too narrow.
3. Blade guides need adjustment.
1. Blade tension is incorrect.
2. Blade guides need adjustment.
3. Feeding workpiece too fast.
1. Blade tension is incorrect.
2. Blade guides need adjustment.
3. Cutting corners too sharply.

CORRECTIVE.ACTION
1. Check power supply for proper voltage.
2. Inspect all lead connections on motor and magnetic
switch for loose or open connections.
3. Replace start capacitor.
1. Inspect cord or plug for damaged insulation and
shorted wires, and replace extension cord.
2. Inspect all connections on motor for loose or
shorted terminals or worn insulation.
3. Install correct fuses or circuit breakers.
1. Reduce load on motor.
2. Clean out motor to provide normal air circulation.
1. Tighten V-belts (Page 35).
2. Replace V-belts (Page 35).
1. Adjust tracking.
2. Replace rubber tires.
3. Adjust wheel co-planarity.
1. Adjust tension.
2. Replace blade, or have it professionally sharpened.
3. Replace blade, or have it professionally sharpened.
1. Replace blade (Page 26).
2. Check blade rotation as described in "Test Run" on
Page 22 and reverse blade if necessary.
3. Switch two of the current carrying wires at the ter-
minal strip.
4. Use a blade with fewer teeth per inch.
