Move it slowly into a horizontal position. • When you are using the battery for the first time or after several months of storage, charge it up to 100% to calibrate the battery meter (charging the battery up to 99% is not sufficient for the calibration).
5. Operation 5.1 Normal operation To start the motor, switch it on, apply the magnetic key and turn the tiller handle from the stop-position into the desired direction. • The magnetic key may affect the operation of pacemakers. Keep the magnetic key away from pacemakers (at least 50 cm / 20 inches).

Use the “setup” button to set the units for the display: First you can select the units in which the remaining range is displayed. Press the “cal“ button to switch between information in kilometers, statutory miles, nautical miles, and hours. You confirm your selection by pressing “setup” again. You then enter the speed indicator setting.
If the remaining run-time is more than 10 hours it is indicated in whole hours. If it is less it is shown in hours and minutes. The GPS-module stops searching for a signal if a signal is not detected within 5 minutes. This icon is displayed if the tiller must be placed in the central position (stop positi- on).
• Never use batteries that are not intended or designed for use with the unit. • Please keep your original operating instructions. Refer to these instructions when it is time to replace your Torqeedo battery. • Different makes of cell or cells of different capacity, size and design may not be used together within one unit.
• Soiled battery poles can be wiped with a clean, dry cloth. Use a clean cloth moistened with a little water to clean plastic surfaces, e.g. the housing or covers. Cells and batte- ries must not come into contact with solvents such as thinners, alcohol, rust inhibitors or substances that may damage the surface like strong detergents.
• If the battery is submerged in water over one metre deep or is sub- merged for more than 30 minutes in water of any depth, please contact Torqeedo Service and do NOT attempt to recover the battery yourself. Explosive hydrogen gas may form if water enters the battery.
Seek medical attention immediately. - Contact one of Torqeedo’s Service Center for instructions on how to dispose of the damaged battery. • Never short-circuit the battery.
5.4.5 Charging the batteries using solar energy The battery can be charged directly using the Solar Charger SUNFOLD 50 (Torqeedo item no. 1132-00). It is also possible to charge the battery with solar panels with an open-circuit voltage of up to 50V.
(main switch) In the unlikely event that your Torqeedo battery should catch fire, try to move it into a position where it cannot cause damage. Water cannot extinguish a lithium fire – if possible cover the battery with sand.
E41, E42 Incorrect charging voltage Use a Torqeedo power supply. If the error occurs in spite of using a Torqeedo power supply, wait untill the battery dissipates the overcharge. Should the error persist please contact Torqeedo Service.
7. Storage and care instructions 7.1 Corrosion protection, care, maintenance After use in salt or brackish water rinse the motor with fresh water. Please spray the contacts about every 2 months with contact spray (e.g. Liquid Evolution Wet Protect Nautic). As a result of the selected materials (high quality aluminum, austenitic stainless steel) and the electrical separation of different materials under the water surface, a sacrificial node is not required even when operating in salt water.
In case of damage or if the shaft or sealing rings rotate out of true, contact Torqeedo Service. 6. Disconnect the motor cable from the battery. Place a new washer onto the motor shaft and insert the new cylindrical pin into the centre of the motor shaft.
8.1 Extent of warranty Torqeedo GmbH, Friedrichshafener Straße 4a in 82205 Gilching, Germany guarantees the final purchaser of a Torqeedo outboard motor that the product is free from material and manufacturing faults during the period stated below. Torqeedo will indemnify the final purchaser for any expense for the repair of a material or manufacturing fault.

At the same time, valuable raw materials will be lost. For this reason, please dispose of your waste electrical equipment separately in an envi- ronmentally sustainable manner; please contact Torqeedo Service or your boatbuilder for more information. For customers outside the EU The Travel system is subject to European Community Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment.
We recommend that you do not dispose of the system with your normal household waste but instead separately in an environmentally sustainable manner. It is also pos- sible that national legislation in your country requires this. For this reason, please check your local regulations and ensure that you dispose of the system in accordance with the statutory provisions.
