Switching CarPlay off/on

Select the entry to switch CarPlay off. The
iPhone remains connected as a smart‐
phone.
▷ "Apple CarPlay"
Select the entry to switch CarPlay on.
CarPlay Navigation
The destination of an active CarPlay navigation
can be handed over to the BMW navigation.
BMW navigation assumes the destination guid‐
ance, and navigation via CarPlay is ended.
Destination guidance cannot be returned to Car‐
Play.
BMW Connected app
Concept
The Connected app provides mobility-based
services and applications.
General information
You can find information on installing the Con‐
nected app and on its content, plus information
on the ConnectedDrive customer portal, at
www.bmwusa.com/connecteddrive.
The Connected app must be installed on the
smartphone you wish to use. The installation
process depends on the smartphone.
To use all the features of the Connected app,
you will need to register when you start it up; you
only need to do this once. The registration proc‐
ess creates a personal ConnectedDrive account
for you in the ConnectedDrive customer portal. If
you already have a ConnectedDrive account, you
can use its login details in the Connected app.

Some functions enable communication with the
vehicle without the need for you to be inside or
at the vehicle. These functions can be executed
via the Connected app or the ConnectedDrive
account.
The vehicle needs to be linked to the Connec‐
tedDrive account in order to use the functions;
you only need to do this once. You can link the
vehicle via the account or via the app. Confirma‐
tion in the vehicle using iDrive is also required.
Apps
Concept
Certain apps of a compatible smartphone can be
integrated in the vehicle. These apps are shown
on the Control Display.
General information
For reasons of safety, some apps are usable only
while the vehicle is stationary.
The manufacturer of your vehicle recommends
the use of apps that BMW has determined to be
compatible with your vehicle; otherwise there
may be malfunctions in system operations.
Information on using apps:
▷ The functional scope shown on the Control
Display depends on the scope of the app in‐
stalled on the smartphone.
▷ The data transfer of the apps from the smart‐
phone to the vehicle can take some time.
Some apps depend on the speed of the avail‐
able Internet connection of the smartphone.
▷ Some smartphones cannot simultaneously
use apps and the Bluetooth hands-free sys‐
tem. If necessary, restart the app on the
smartphone after a phone conversation.
▷ Using apps on a smartphone can incur costs.
These costs are not a part of the optional ve‐
hicle feature.
