Connecting the remote control
Two remote controls can be connected.
The first remote control needs to be connected
via iDrive in the front.
1. "My Vehicle"
2. "iDrive settings"
3. "Headphones/Remote control"
A list of linked devices is displayed.
4. Press and hold the button on the re‐
mote control for approx. 5 seconds.
At the same time, press and hold the middle
button on the remote control for approx.
5 seconds.
2 LEDs on the remote control flash for ap‐
prox. 10 seconds. Perform the next step
while the LEDs are flashing.
5. "Connect new device"
The remote control will appear in the list of con‐
nected devices.
Symbol Meaning
Remote control.
Battery charge status.
Renaming the remote control
The displayed name of the remote control can
be changed.
1. "My Vehicle"
2. "iDrive settings"
3. "Headphones/Remote control"
A list of linked devices is displayed.
4. Select the remote control.
5. "Rename"
6. Enter the desired name.

Rear entertainment
Deleting the remote control
The connection with the vehicle can be deleted.
1. "My Vehicle"
2. "iDrive settings"
3. "Headphones/Remote control"
A list of linked devices is displayed.
4. Select the remote control.
5. "Remove device"
Selecting a rear side
A remote control can be connected to the left or
right rear side. The rear side can be changed at
any time.
Push the switch to the left or right.

Replacing the batteries

NOTE
There is a risk of material damage if rechargea‐
ble batteries are used in the remote control due
to their contents. There is a risk of damage to
property. Do not use rechargeable batteries.
1. Remove the cover. Press on the cover, ar‐
row 1, and push forward, arrow 2.
2. Insert batteries of the same type.
3. Close the cover.
Have old batteries disposed of by a deal‐
er's service center or another qualified
