Six or more wires?
if there are six or more wires (excluding clock
wires), you most likely have a variation of a heat
pump or multistage system. The thermostat is not
compatible with such systems. Return the product
to the place of purchase.
Position thermostat on wall. Use spirit level to
make sure thermostat will be level. Mark the
• 1
upper slots and one of the lower hole locations on
the wall with a pencil.

Refer to notes you made on wire labels when
you removed old thermostat.

'Wire colors are typical; verify at heating system terminal strip.
Three thermostat wires?
Some hot water heating systems have three
thermostat wires. These systems require an
isolating relay. See order form at the end of this

Remove thermostat from wall, and drill holes

in wall as marked. Gently tap anchors
(provided) into drilled holes until flush with the wall.
Reposition thermostat over holes. Insert
screw in bottom hole and tighten.

the appropriate letter of your new thermostat
terminal. Refer to figures on page 6 and Table 2 for
additional guidance and typical wire colors for easy
matching. Also note the need to retain or remove
the factory-installed jumper mnnecting terminals
