  • Page 7: General Instructions

1.2. General overview of the product This manual describes how to install, use, set up and maintain the D700 AVR. The purpose of this AVR is to regulate alternators with a field current of less than 25 A in continuous operations, and 50 A maximum in the event of short-circuit for 10 seconds maximum.
  • Page 8: Technical Characteristics

Quadrature droop, cross-current and load compensation cannot be enabled at the same time and require the use of an optional current transformer. Obligation to have the Grid code VTs and Grid code current measurement CT placed at the delivery point and wired on the D700. Page 8/132...

  • Page 12: Safety Devices And General Warning Symbols

1.4. Safety devices and general warning symbols For the user’s own safety, the D700 must be connected to an approved earth using the earth terminal shown below. The tooling for this connection is not included with the D700. A tightening torque of 2.5Nm +/- 0.5Nm must be applied to the screw.
  • Page 13: General Information

The installation and cooling of equipment must comply with the specifications in the documentation supplied with the product. The D700 must be protected against excessive stress. In particular, there must be no damage to parts and/or modification of the clearance between components during transportation and handling. Avoid touching the electronic components and any live parts.
  • Page 14: Electrical Connection

Modifications to the D700 parameters using control software or the HMI are permitted. Active parts of the device and live power connections must not be touched immediately after the D700 is powered down, as the capacitors may still be charged. In view of this, the warnings fixed to the voltage regulators must be observed.

2.2. Mounting The D700 does not have integrated mounts. A set of feet needs to be added for the AVR to be attached at the back of the cabinet. These feet are inserted on each side in the heatsink slide rails, at the top and bottom of the D700.

To ensure respect of standards IEC 61000-6-2, IEC 61000-6-4, IEC 60255-26, shielded cables are imperative in case of a D700 installed outside of the terminal box. The total ohmic value of the exciter loop (out and back) must not exceed 5% of the exciter resistance, regardless of the cable length.
