Problem
The appliance does
not switch on when
the ON/OFF button
is pressed.
The espresso or cof-
fee is not hot en-
ough.
The coffee is too
lightly coloured or
too weak.
The coffee dis-
penses too slowly.
The coffee is not

You have accidentally used ground coffee instead of coffee
beans.
The coffee does not
come out of the cof-
fee tube (24).
The coffee grinder

cult to turn.

Probable causes
Power failure or blown fuse.
The mains plug is not pushed into
the mains socket correctly or the 230V
mains socket is faulty.
The appliance is faulty.
The temperature of the coffee is not
set high enough.
The coffee cup is cold.
There is not enough coffee in the
coffee bean holder (19).
The coffee is too coarse.
Too much coffee is prepared.
The coffee is too fine.
The coffee is too coarse.
The coffee is not fresh.
The tube is blocked.
Foreign bodies are inside the grin-
der.
Has the grinder setting button been
moved when grinding was not taking
place?

Corrective actions
✗ Check the fuses of your electri-
cal installation.
✗ Check that the plug is correctly
inserted into the socket or have
the socket repaired.
✗ Have the appliance checked by
a qualified technician.
✗ Check the temperature of the
coffee (see point 3.3).
✗ Warm the cup by rinsing it
with hot water before starting
the preparation.
✗ Add coffee beans to the hol-
der.
✗ Use the grinder setting button
(17) to obtain a finer grind.
✗ Use the grinder setting button
(17) to obtain a coarser grind.
✗ Use the grinder setting button
(17) to obtain a finer grind.
✗ Use fresher coffee beans
✗ Suck out the coffee in the cof-
fee bean holder with your va-
cuum cleaner.
✗ Unblock the tube with the
cleaning wire or a toothpick.
✗ Contact KRUPS Customer
Service.
✗ Only turn the setting button du-
ring grinding.
