K. Computer Requirements for Downloading Firmware
The recommended desktop PC or laptop requirements
firmware are:
• CPU: Celeron 400 MHz or higher (32-bit processor only)
• Memory: 32 MB of RAM or more
• Free HDD Capacity: 100 MB or more of available hard disk space
• High-Speed USB 2.0 (recommended) or 1.1
• Display: 640 x 480 resolution or better, 256 colors or more
• Operating System (any of the following):
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server/Professional
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Home Edition
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003
- Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit processor version only)
- Microsoft Windows 7, 8, or 8.1
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012
- Mac OS X 10.3 or later
• Necessary Cables: High-Speed USB 2.0-compliant cable (as short as
possible to avoid connection problems).
Note: Do not use extension cables.
L. PC-less Firmware Upgrade
The imageRUNNER 1400 Series firmware can also be upgraded without the
use of an external PC.
Note: The device must be connected to a network with Internet access.
The device is set to update firmware via the Internet. After the device
downloads the firmware update, it restarts and installs the update. For more
information on updating firmware without a PC, see the imageRUNNER 1400
Series User's Manual and imageRUNNER 1400 Series Service Manual.
