Set permissions for third-party applications

CAUTION: Setting permissions for third-party applications can significantly affect the operation of
applications on your BlackBerry® device. If you are unsure about how changing these settings might
affect the operation of the applications on your device, contact your system administrator or wireless
service provider for more information.
1. In the device options, click Advanced Options.
2. Click Applications.
3. Highlight an application.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Perform one of the following actions:
• To change permissions for all applications, click Edit Default Permissions.
• To change permissions for a third-party application, click Edit Permissions.
6. Expand Connections, Interactions, or User Data.
7. Set the permission fields.
8. Press the Menu key.
9. Click Save.

Third-party application connection permissions

USB:
Set whether third-party applications can connect to your device using a physical connection such as
a USB cable or RS-252 cable.
Bluetooth:
Set whether third-party applications can use wireless connections that your device has established
with other Bluetooth® enabled devices.
Phone:
Set whether third-party applications can make phone calls or access phone logs.
Company Network:
Set whether third-party applications can access the Internet or your organization's intranet through
your organization's network.
Carrier Internet:
Set whether third-party applications can access the Internet through your wireless service provider
(for example, through a direct TCP connection or a WAP gateway).

Third-party application interaction permissions

Interprocess Communication:
Set whether third-party applications can communicate with other applications on your BlackBerry
device, such as the device runtime store, persistant store, and global events.
