5.4. CN4 TERMINAL BOARD

5.4.1. m
AinS pOWer Supply
Terminals "F, PE & N". Connect the power cable of the 115/230Vac mains
line to these terminals. The earthing cable must be connected to the central
terminal, "PE". This connection is absolutely necessary for correct operation of
the control unit.
5.5. BATTERY KIT
Two different types of battery kit can be connected to this control unit: one on board the machine and one in a remote posi-
tion, both available as optional items. The battery kit makes up for a possible power cut supplying the gate the necessary
power to perform some manoeuvres.
Both battery kits cannot absolutely coexist: you can use either the battery kit on board the machine or the remote battery
kit.
Battery kit on board the machine (optional)
This battery kit must be connected to terminal "JP3". For its positioning on board the machine, please refer to the gearmotor
instructions. For the operation of the battery kit, see following paragraph.
Remote battery kit (not supplied)
You can connect a remote battery kit for the control unit in order to get a longer range in the event of a power cut. Batteries
must be installed in a compartment (not supplied). The remote battery kit must be connected to terminals "+BAT & -BAT". Only
common lead batteries can be used having a capacity not exceeding 4Ah. The operation of the battery kit is described in
the following paragraph.
The compartment housing the remote batteries must have an opening, as requested by current standards, to prevent
accumulation of potentially explosive gases in the container.
5.5.1. O
perAtiOn OF tHe BAttery Kit
During normal operation, the control unit keeps the batteries charged. Batteries start operating whenever a mains power cut
is detected.
The number of operations that can be performed with the system powered by buffer batteries depends directly on
the charge status of the batteries, the gate structure, the time elapsing since mains power was cut, the accessories
connected to the control unit, etc...
Powering the system by means of buffer batteries is to be considered as an emergency situation.
Never perform the programming procedure when the control unit is powered only by batteries.
The control unit is designed for housing a radio receiver module (see price list) which must be connected to the relevant "JP2"
connector.
The receiver module can be connected in one position only, do not force it.
To avoid damaging the receiver module beyond repair, it must be installed and, if neces-
sary, removed only after cutting power to the system.
To remove the receiver module without any damage to the housing, press on its sides,
where dots are present, and simultaneously remove the module.
