4 – Mapping Basics
Suppose that port 1 is located at a radio production studio that is generating a program audio signal
which is to be monitored simultaneously at four remote sites. The studio has reserved time slots 19,
20, 21, and 22 on port 1 for this 256 Kbps signal. Ports 2 through 5, connected to the remote sites,
have each reserved time slots 19, 20, 21, and 22 for the signal. The signal travels in one direction
from the studio to the four remote sites.
The map for the point-to-multipoint configuration in Table 4-5 does not include Port 6 because it is not
involved in the point-to-multipoint transmissions. The map shows all the time slots broadcasting from
port 1.
