MDS to issue alerts, syslog entries, and record entries in the output of the logging onboard datarate
command. In an all MDS environment, only Tx datarate is enough to determine overutilization. In
mixed environments, with other types of switches that do not support Tx datarate, configuring Rx
datarate can help to determine the ingress rate from a non-MDS switch.
Tx datarate and Rx datarate must be configured as follows and included in the active port-monitor
policy:
counter tx-datarate poll-interval 10 delta rising-threshold 80 event 4
falling-threshold 79 event 4
counter rx-datarate poll-interval 10 delta rising-threshold 80 event 4
falling-threshold 79 event 4
In the show logging log and show logging onboard datarate commands, the time an interface was
running at a high Tx utilization is the time from rising threshold to falling threshold.
