6.2 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE - MACHINE OPERATION
MALFUNCTION/FAULT
Compressor overheating
System retains pressure
after shutdown
Compressor stalls

POSSIBLE CAUSE
Insufficient oil
Restricted cooling air flow
Fan not operating
Plugged oil filter
Contaminated cooler core
Pressure set too high
Unit running too fast
Thermal valve
Oil level too low
Solenoid valve stuck
Leak back from air line
Insufficient hydraulic system
pressure flow. This can occur if
another hydraulically activated
component is used off same
pump system. Activating the
secondary component may drop
hydraulic supply system pressure/
flow and leave insufficient for
compressor.
Pressure relief valve set too low
Leak in seals on pressure relief
valve.
Air pressure set too high for
hydraulic system.

SECTION 6: TROUBLESHOOTING
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Check oil level and fill to proper level.
Reposition machine to assure proper air
flow.
Check ground connection and ensure
proper connection.
Check circuit breaker.
Check for short in wires.
Check fan motor.
Replace oil filter.
Remove and clean cooler core. Consult
service department for recommended
flushing procedure.
Contact factory service department.
Check hydraulic flow and pressure and
adjust if necessary.
Faulty valve; replace thermal valve.
Check level; replenish as necessary.
Should be no power to solenoid valve.
Replace solenoid valve.
Check minimum pressure valve for
leaks.
NOTE: Even a momentary drop in
supply hydraulic supply pressure/flow
may initiate compressor blowdown to
commence.
Check setting on supply pressure
system relief valve.
Check to ensure adequate pressure/
flow. Check if other systems are
activated off same supply.
Contact factory service department.
Remove and check seals or fit new
valve cartridge.
Adjust pressure setting to reduce air
pressure.
