    4.2 All Instructions for a Safe Handling of the NEURO TRONIC Multi-Purpose Device WARNING Risk of Falling Due to Improper Handling of the Multi-Purpose Device Gather information about the correct handling of the multi-purpose device (e.g. avoiding contact with moisture and water).     In order to operate or adjust the orthosis via an app, the orthosis has to be equipped with a controller with Bluetooth. 6.     The system knee joint and the controller are mounted to the patient's orthosis. In order to put the orthosis into operation and adjust it, you need the multi-purpose device or the app NEURO TRONIC Expert (the app has to be unlocked with a multi-purpose device with Bluetooth once).

    If you want to adjust the orthosis with the multi-purpose device or the NEURO TRONIC Expert app on a different mobile device, you must first close the app currently connected to the controller.

    12. Selecting a Mode You can select the available modes AUTO, FREE and LOCK with the multi-purpose device/the app. The mode is set, when the respective mode is displayed larger in the multi-purpose device than the others. With the multi- purpose device, proceed as follows in order to change the mode: 1.

When the patient exercises walking with the orthosis, the orthosis provides a tone signal if the the signal function is on.

    14.1 Language This menu item does not exist in the app as the language is automatically selected by the smartphone’s/tablet’s settings. For the multi-purpose device, you can switch between German and English, with German as preset language. In order to change the language of the multi-purpose device, proceed as follows: 1.

    Now, you can connect a second controller with the multi-purpose device, if required. To do so, select YES by pressing the left arrow button for this WOULD YOU LIKE TO CONNECT (fig. 10). If you connect a second controller, legs must be assigned to the A SECOND CONTROLLER? controllers.

    Bluetooth. A remote control with Bluetooth can be directly connected with the controller and does not have to be activated with the multi-purpose device (see manual NEURO TRONIC system knee joint). Via the menu item Activate you put the remote control for the patient into operation. You establish a connection between the controller and the remote control with the multi-purpose device.

    If you activate only one remote control, the modes of both controllers/orthoses are changed simultaneously. If the orthoses are equipped with controllers with Bluetooth, the modes can be switched separately or at the same time for the two controllers/orthoses with the app NEURO TRONIC Expert as well as the app NEURO TRONIC User.

    14.6.1 Cable Connection Test Result Messages and Further Actions The following test results refer to components that are explained more detailed in the manual NEURO TRONIC system knee joint. These messages are displayed in the multi-purpose device as well as in the app.

    4. Confirm your selection by pressing the Set button (fig. 21). Let the patient exercise walking with the orthosis with the adjusted point of time of locking and adapt the settings again, if required. 14.7.4 Tone Selection Here you can select the tone for the signal function for training purposes for the patient (see paragraph 13). You can select one out of two frequencies.

    5. Select the signal type by browsing with the left and right arrow buttons. You can select one out of four dif- ferent setting options. Signal tone 1 emits a signal as long as the system joint is free moving. Signal tone 2 emits a signal as long as the system joint is locked.

    If both patient’s legs are treated and settings are made for one leg, the currently selected menu item and the selected leg are displayed alternately. For you as orthotist, the step counter is available via the multi-purpose device and the app NEURO TRONIC Expert and for the patient via the app NEURO TRONIC User.

    18.2 Walking with the Orthosis in Auto Mode For safety reasons, the NEURO TRONIC system knee joint remains locked at the first step. When the patient starts to walk from a standing position, he should make the first step with the leg with orthosis. The electronics require a stride to switch from standing mode to walking mode in order to avoid disturbed gait or stumbling when starting to walk.
