Rack considerations

For successful installation and operation of the switch in a rack, ensure the following rack
requirements are met:

Recommendations for cable management

The minimum bend radius for a 50 micron cable is 2 inches under full tensile load and 1.2 inches
with no tensile load.
Cables can be organized and managed in a variety of ways, for example, using cable channels on
the sides of the rack or patch panels to minimize cable management. Following is a list of
recommendations:

The rack must be a standard EIA rack.
A rack space that is two rack units (2U) high; 8.90 cm (3.50 inches) high and 48.3 cm (19
inches) wide.
The equipment in the rack is grounded through a reliable branch circuit connection and
maintain ground at all times. Do not rely on a secondary connection to a branch circuit,
such as a power strip.
Airflow and temperature requirements are met on an ongoing basis, particularly if the
switch is installed in a closed or multirack assembly.
The additional weight of the switch does not exceed the rack's weight limits or unbalance
the rack in any way.
The rack is secured to ensure stability in case of unexpected movement, such as an
earthquake.
