Note:
When removing the camshaft, the engine must be turned by 180_. To do so, the engine must be
placed on assembly truck.

Turn the engine round so that the valve tappets
are not in the way when the camshaft is being re-
moved.
Pull out the camshaft; do not damage the cams-
haft bearings in doing so.
Check the camshaft for wear and damage; replace
if necessary.
In the case of damage to the camshaft or drive
toothed wheel, the entire unit (camshaft - toothed
wheel) must be replaced.

Use a suitable mandrel to push the valve tappet
out of the guide; check for wear; if required, renew.
Valve tappets can only be removed when the
camshaft has been removed.
Replacing the camshaft bearings

Use a suitable mandrel to drive out the camshaft
bearing bushings and drive in new bushings until
they are flush.
In doing so, observe the correct position of the oil
supply bore hole (arrow).
Note:
On the last camshaft bearing bushing on
the gear case side, the axial camshaft
stop is located behind the bushing.
Due to the oblique toothing of the drive
wheel, the camshaft is continuously
drawn against this stop.
