3.11 District Heating Schemes - Pressure Breaks

• On tall buildings and extensive networks it is recommended to install pressure breaks.
• Pressure breaks can be installed in the central plantroom located in the basement as shown in Figure 20 or if the
building is very tall pressure break(s) may have to be installed on a fl oor part way up the building.
• If the plantroom is on the rooftop, a pressure break part way down the building may be required to protect the
lower fl oors from high static pressures.
• A means of isolating the pressure break for service and maintenance purposes is recommended.
