RECORDING
AN OUTGOING
MESSAGE
Before you record your outgoing message, decide what you are going to say
and write it down.
SAMPLE OUTGOING
MESSAGE
"Hello. This is (your name). Please leave your name and telephone number
and a brief message, and your call will be returned as soon as possible.
Thank you."
NOTES:
The message tape must be
inserted before an outgoing
message can be recorded. This
ensures that there is a backup
tape recording of your outgoing
message in the event of a power
failure. (See "POWER
FAILURE",
page 40.)
If you attempt to record an
outgoing message without a
message tape inserted, 3 long
beeps sound.
Your outgoing message can be
up to approximately
16 seconds
in length. The IN USE indicator
flashes to alert you during the last
4 seconds of recording time.
If you attempt to record an
outgoing message more than 16
seconds in length, the answering
system automatically
stops
recording and enters the auto
answer mode.
When outgoing message record-
ing is completed,
the unit switch-
es to the auto answer mode
automatically.
If you want to
cancel the auto answer mode,
press the STOP button.
If an incoming call is received
while you are recording your
outgoing message or while the
backup tape recording is being
made, your outgoing message is
erased. If this happens, record
your outgoing message again.
When you replace the message
tape, you must record your
outgoing message again.
To record an outgoing message

Press the STOP button.
Set the VOLUME control to the
mid position.
Press and hold the OGM REC
button for approximately
1
second until a beep sounds.
The IN USE indicator lights.
When you hear the beep tone,
record your message using the
built-in microphone.
Press the OGM REC button
again to end recording.
The IN USE and ANSWER
indicators flash alternately,
and
your outgoing message plays
back automatically.
(A backup
recording of your outgoing
message is made automatically
on the message tape.)
