• Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
• Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or use in
areas where they may be present.
• Keep the shampooer on the floor. Use only the above floor attachment provided for
upholstery and stair cleaning.
• Do not use an extension cord with this shampooer.
• Store the shampooer indoors. Put the shampooer away after use to prevent tripping
accidents.
• Using improper voltage may result in damage to the motor and possible injury to the
user. Proper voltage is listed on the cleaner plate.
• Use only Hoover® Carpet & Upholstery Detergent. Using other cleaning solutions may
cause excessive foaming. Excessive foam will cause the float to shut off the vacuum
prematurely. Using other cleaners can void your warranty.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Your cleaner contains a thermal protective device to shut off the motor to avoid overheating.
If this happens, turn switch off and unplug the cleaner. Inspect the exhaust, inlet, and filters
for any blockage. Empty the dirt container and clean filters. After approximately 30 minutes
the motor will have cooled and the vacuum will be ready to use. NOTE: the cleaner must
remain unplugged during the 30 minute cooling period.
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding
provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric
shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding
conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate
outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and
ordinances.
WARNING:
Improper connection
of the equipment-grounding conductor can
result in a risk of electric shock. Check with
a qualified electrician or service person if
you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is
properly grounded. Do not modify the plug
provided with the appliance--if it will not fit
the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by
a qualified electrician.
This appliance is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit and has a grounding attachment
plug that looks like the plug illustrated in the sketch above. Make sure that the
appliance is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No
adaptor should be used with this appliance.
