Equipment List
To install a M4 system with 2 Mac minis, you need the following hardware and software
equipment.
Hardware
• 1 Mac mini i7
• 3GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz)
• 8 GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
• 1TB Fusion Drive
• Intel Iris Graphics
Note: One Mac mini i7 can work with up to 2 monitors.
• 1 Mac mini i5
• 2.6GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz)
• 8 GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
• 1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
• Intel Iris Graphics
Note: Add a Mac mini i5 only if you need to work with 2 additional monitors.
• 1 M4 receiver
• 1 Mx hydrophone junction box
• 1 USB to Ethernet adapter
• 2 to 4 thunderbolt to HDMI/VGA/DVI adapter
• 2 Scala software dongles.
• 2 Mac mini mount
• 1 wireless trackball mouse
• 1 Ethernet switch
Optional equipment (not included)
• 2 to 4 monitors
• 1 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to prevent problems if the mains power fails
(recommended). Size: 500VA.
• Additional hydrophone junction boxes
• 1 test hydrophone that you can keep on board and connect to the receiver to do functional tests.
• 1 NMEA converter junction box (P/N NC-2-TEMP) to receive temperature data from
hydrophones
• 1 NMEA multiplexer to receive NMEA data and display them in Scala: ShipModul MiniPlex-3E-
N2K if using NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 or Miniplex-3E if using only NMEA0183.
