    4. Installation and Preparing for use Your Inspiration Cot comes fully assembled and ready for use. Simply remove any packaging and connect the mains cable to an appropriate mains socket outlet. WARNING Ensure that the mains cable is not in tension when connected to the power supply.

    6. Electrics i) Handset The handset is designed to be used by the carer only. The mattress platform can be tilted from either the head or foot end and the cot height is adjustable. To adjust the position of the cot, depress the relevant button until the desired point has been reached and then release the button.

    7. Emergency Mechanical CPR Function (Optional Accessory) The mattress platform can be levelled by pulling a handle found at the foot end of the cot. There is one lever to activate the foot end and another for the head end, found to either side of the shelf.

    8. Braking & Steering There are two linked brake pedals at the foot end of the cot which control all the castors simultaneously. • When the pedal is in the ‘steer’ position it locks one castor on the cot so that it cannot swivel. This allows the cot to be steered when being pushed from the head end of the cot.

    9. Side Rails Your cot comes complete with two integral telescoping side rails which can be locked in position at six different heights. When the side rail is fully down it provides the carer with complete access to the mattress platform regardless of the cot height. i) Adjusting the Side Rail Height Release the side rail by gently sliding the two yellow buttons outwards, this disengages the locking mechanism.

    10. Shelf To raise the shelf, squeeze both spring loaded release handles, these are situated to the shelf underside on the left and right hand sides. Lift the shelf until it is level, once in position release the handles and ensure that the handles have locked in position. To fold the shelf down, squeeze both release handles and gently lower it down.

    12. Transfusion Pole (Optional Extra) The safe working load of the transfusion pole is 10kg, however no more than 3kg should be hung from each hook. The pole should be inserted into one of the sockets found to the head end of the mattress platform and the handwheel tightened. 13.

    14. Cleaning Procedure i) Biocote Your cot comes with an antibacterial additive incorporated into the powder coated metalwork. Biocote™ inhibits the growth of bacteria on the surface of the cot frame. It is effective against a wide range of both gram positive and negative bacteria as well as fungi.
