Using the Front Panel for Operations

About the Operational Mode
Display
The operational mode display shows the operational mode, the
operation status in RAID mode, and the internal temperature
(reference value).
Refer to the network disk recorder's Setup Instructions (PDF file) for
information about HDD initialization and disk configuration.

Display During Single Operation

(Temperature will be displayed in Fahrenheit for NTSC model, e.g.
"90 ºF")

Display During RAID5/RAID6 Operation

Normal
HDD Errors
• RAID5
When HDD errors occur, [1DOWN] or [2DOWN] flash on the
LCD.
Also, the HDD access indicator of HDD with errors lights or blinks
red. (page 29)
Important:
In RAID5 mode, when one HDD has errors, data can be read
from the remaining HDDs and recovery is possible.
When one HDD has errors, replace it quickly and recover the
data.
Data cannot be recovered when two or more HDDs has errors
or When an HDD has errors while data is being recovered.
• RAID6
When an HDD errors occur, [1DOWN], [2DOWN], or [3DOWN]
appears in the LCD.
Also, the HDD access indicator of HDD with errors lights or blinks
red. (page 29)
Important:
In RAID6 mode, when two HDDs have errors, data can be read
from the remaining HDDs and recovery is possible.
When [1DOWN] or [2DOWN] occurs, replace the HDDs with
errors quickly and recover the data.
Data cannot be recovered when three or more HDDs have
errors or when an HDD has errors while data is being
recovered.
Display during recovery
• RAID5
The following is displayed during recovery in RAID5 mode.
Waiting to start recovery
During recovery (writing)
During recovery, the HDD access indicator blinks orange and
red. (page 29)
• RAID6
The display when in RAID6 mode is the same as in RAID5 mode.
