Measure 10 mL of the
solution into a 10-mL
sample cell (the blank)
leaving exactly 10 mL in the
mixing cylinder.

Use the calibrated
dropper to add 0.5 mL of
cyclohexanone to the
sample remaining in the
mixing cylinder. Stopper and
shake for 30 seconds. Wait
three minutes but no longer
than 15 minutes for full
color development before
performing step 6.

Fill a clean 10-mL
sample cell to the 10-mL
mark with the solution in
the mixing cylinder. This is
the prepared sample.
