    Standby mode can be achieved either by I C communication or the external STBY pin. Powering up the MIC7401 directly into Standby mode does not offer the advantages of Normal mode power-up (sequencing, timing and soft-start ramp control) and should be avoided.

    MIC7401 TYPICAL APPLICATION THE MIC7401 EVALUATION BOARD The MIC7401 Evaluation Board is designed to demonstrate the core functionality of the MIC7401 configurable PMIC which includes five independent synchronous buck regu- lators that can deliver a current of 3A and one non-synchronous boost converter with up to 200 mA of output current from an input voltage of 2.4V to 5.5V.

    • Buck regulator 4: 1.05V • Buck regulator 5: 1.25V • Boost regulator: 12V The MIC7401 PMIC on the Evaluation Board has been designed so that the I C pull-up resistors can be attached to any voltage, including V and V .
  • Page 14: Getting Started

    C pull-up resistors with the high level corresponding to either USB power (5V) or V 4. Connect the microUSB type B cable from J2 to a PC in order to enable commu- nication. The MIC7401 Evaluation Board provides easy interfacing to any PC using the MCP2221 Bridge.

    The MIC7401 Evaluation Board features different connectors for selecting different functionality and test points for voltage measurements and power-good: • J16 can be used to Enable or Disable the MIC7401. Placing a jumper between EN and GND will disable the device. The MIC7401 Evaluation Board features a pull-up resistor for the EN signal so the PMIC will be enabled by default.

    2. If Adobe Reader is already installed, go to Step 3. If not, download Adobe Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ and follow the installation instructions. 3. Download the I C Monitor 3.1.0 archive from www.microchip.com/MIC7401, under “Documentation & Software.” 4. Unzip the I C Monitor 3.1.0 archive, which contains the setup.exe file.

    Installation and Operation C MONITOR GUI UNINSTALL In order to install a new version of the MIC7401, any previous version or corrupted version should be removed from the computer. To uninstall, go to Windows Start>Control Panel>Uninstall a program>I2CMonitor. The C Monitor GUI automatically closes once the uninstallation process is complete.
