Preface RECOMMENDED READING This user’s guide describes how to use the MIC7401 Evaluation Board. Another use- ful document is listed below. The following Microchip document is available and recommended as a supplemental reference resource: MIC7401 Data Sheet – “Configurable PMIC, Five-Channel Buck Regulator Plus One-Boost with HyperLight Load®...
Standby mode can be achieved either by I C communication or the external STBY pin. Powering up the MIC7401 directly into Standby mode does not offer the advantages of Normal mode power-up (sequencing, timing and soft-start ramp control) and should be avoided.
MIC7401 TYPICAL APPLICATION THE MIC7401 EVALUATION BOARD The MIC7401 Evaluation Board is designed to demonstrate the core functionality of the MIC7401 configurable PMIC which includes five independent synchronous buck regu- lators that can deliver a current of 3A and one non-synchronous boost converter with up to 200 mA of output current from an input voltage of 2.4V to 5.5V.
Product Overview • Output pull-down, Power-on Reset WHAT THE MIC7401 EVALUATION BOARD KIT INCLUDES The MIC7401 Evaluation Board kit includes the following items: • MIC7401 Evaluation Board (ADM00812) • Important Information Sheet 2016 - 2018 Microchip Technology Inc. DS50002723A-page 11...
• Buck regulator 4: 1.05V • Buck regulator 5: 1.25V • Boost regulator: 12V The MIC7401 PMIC on the Evaluation Board has been designed so that the I C pull-up resistors can be attached to any voltage, including V and V .
C pull-up resistors with the high level corresponding to either USB power (5V) or V 4. Connect the microUSB type B cable from J2 to a PC in order to enable commu- nication. The MIC7401 Evaluation Board provides easy interfacing to any PC using the MCP2221 Bridge.
The MIC7401 Evaluation Board features different connectors for selecting different functionality and test points for voltage measurements and power-good: • J16 can be used to Enable or Disable the MIC7401. Placing a jumper between EN and GND will disable the device. The MIC7401 Evaluation Board features a pull-up resistor for the EN signal so the PMIC will be enabled by default.
