Setting the Velocity of Sound
The gauge uses the Velocity of Sound value to calculate the
material thickness value. It is therefore important the velocity
value is set for the material being measured.
If you perform a Calibration the Velocity of Sound will be set
for you during the calibration – so you don't need to adjust it
afterwards.
You can manually set the velocity of sound value if required,
normally you would do this if;
• You can't perform a calibration
• You want to use the same velocity setting as last time
• You want to use a velocity from a material list
A list of velocity of sound values for common material can be
found on page 56.

Access the Menu and scroll down
to the 'Calibration' group. Then
scroll right and select 'Velocity'.
Press the Ok/Select key to open
the 'Velocity'' function

If there has been a previous
Calibration a message will warn
that changing the velocity will
alter the calibration;
Press the OK/Select key to
continue, or X/Cancel to abort.
